Generating new sources of value and growth for an organization

Look at your organization and ask: Does innovation flow?

                                                            Can you innovate?

                                                            Do you know how?

INNOVATION - Is top of mind for organizations and leaders as a primary growth engine.  We're constantly inundated by innovation related stories, documentaries, and calls to action in every possible media.

Almost any magazine – business, scientific, or general market – has continual articles and series on innovation.  Some magazines and organizations even rank companies by “innovation prowess.

We firmly believe the single best approach to innovation is through COLLABORATIVE INNOVATION: The recursive interaction of co-creativity, knowledge, and mutual learning, between two or more people or organizations, working together toward a common goal of generating new sources of growth or wealth of mutual benefit.

COLLABORATIVE INNOVATION ARCHITECTURE We provide coherent strategic system to place innovation into the firm grasp of your organization:

Innovation will be focused and fast - opening the new opportunties your growth strategy demands.

DEEPER QUESTIONS - There is no question that innovation is a critical success factor for any business, small, medium or large.

But even with all of this attention, all too often leaders struggle to answer:

  • What is innovation?
  • How do we manage for innovation?
  • How do we measure innovation?
  • How do we focus innovation for growth?
  • Where do we expect innovation to come from?

For the  CEO, the usual answers to these questions rarely cut through the fog of ambiguity, much less provide a foundation for actions and execution.

But there are real answers for you.

LEADERSHIP ACTIONS - You cannot dictate or demand innovation.  Without specific expectations enabled by leadership actions innovation will not flow.  And to keep it flowing you need the right metrics and rewards systems in place.

People will always innovate - it's hard wired into all of us.

However in organizations it's usually leadership barriers - actions not aligned and supporting innovation expectations - that prevent innovation from surfacing and developing into new value and growth.

NOT JUST INVENTIONCompounding the innovation problem is that most organizations equate innovation with invention.

Truth is, invention accounts for less than 20% of all innovation, and patent searches show that less than 1% of all innovation is based on new inventions!

Focusing on invention alone means you are not open to other sources of innovation.  We believe there are 7 types of innovation that must be considered:

  1. Process improvements
  2. Business models
  3. Systems solutions
  4. Product improvements
  5. Market extensions
  6. Social systems
  7. Invention

When you are open to all of these innovation is no longer mysterious.  And every person in your organization is now a source of innovation - not just your R&D group.

Organizations that practice more than just invention create the most value and generate the most growth.

SOURCES OF INNOVATION - Internal sources of innovation are fundamental to any organization. But in today's world no single company can do it by themselves - Outside sources are just as important.

Innovation flows are more robust and faster when you are open to all

sources, for example:

  • Alliances
  • Cus
    tomers and suppliers
  • Collaborative innovation networks
  • Universities and institutions

There are many organizations that find over 50% of their innovations, including new productss and services, from outside sources.
